Elrick was particularly known for his books for children, which featured characters such as Lassie, Superman, Tarzan, and Spiderman. Elrick was also a columnist for "Stars and Stripes" a wartime newspaper during World War II.ĭuring his career Elrick was a prolific author of books such as A History of the Solomon Islands, The Science Fiction Handbook for Writers and Readers, You Can Negotiate Anything (with Herb Cohen), and How to Beat the High Cost of Falling In and Out of Love (with Steven Lake and Melvin Belli). He also found time to teach creative writing classes. In 1983 he became principal corporate officer at Abstract Publishing, where he worked the rest of his life. He performed similar work at Dartnell Corporation from 1975 to 1983. In 1968 he began five years in motion picture production with Sanderson, Elrick & Thomas. Later, he became Grant/Jacoby’s creative director before becoming a motion picture scriptwriter for Jack Lieb Productions and then for Wilding, Inc. In 1949 he joined Spiegel as an assistant retail advertising manager. Elrick had a varied career, first working as a copywriter for Montgomery Ward in 1946, followed by a stint at Belnap & Thompson.
